America at 250

I designed this programming guide for music publishers Boosey & Hawkes to showcase their roster of music for venues looking forward to their 2026 schedules. B&H wanted an exuberant celebration of America and their composers presented with a fresh, modern look. Using a limited palette of red, white, and blue (naturally), I combined images of composers and recognizable American monuments and moments with a graphic vocabulary of stripes, stars, and other shapes. The whole booklet has the sensibility of a maximalist collage, where different elements come together in a free-wheeling yet coherent amalgamation, much like America itself.

IFF Futures

I designed a book for IFF on trends they see making an impact on how we live in the future. Their design system employs a language of dynamic shapes and and an exciting color palette. Here are some interior spreads—chapter openers and trend pages—from the book.

Ned Rorem Booklet

I created this booklet for Ned Rorem’s publishers Boosey & Hawkes for his upcoming centenary. They were keen to highlight the beautiful photos of Rorem’s long and storied career in classical music. In the end, we opted for a straightforward layout with a sophisticated color palette to allow those photos to have their due.

Juilliard Journal 2020–2024

The Journal was redesigned in 2020. The updated version is clean and modern, making for a streamlined and more efficient design process.

Carlisle Floyd Booklet

I designed a booklet for music publishers Boosey and Hawkes for the Centennial of one of their composers, Carlisle Floyd. The design takes advantage of the dramatic photos of Floyd’s opera productions.

Summer Music at First Church

For the Summer Music Series, the brief was for assets that communicated the joy of music, the excitement of summer—a bright and happy feeling throughout. I designed a poster using a set of icons that could be broken up and reconfigured for different formats. Some of the icons speak to the different age groups and programs (babies, high school singers, a ukulele), and can be used to highlight those specific programs when utilized on their own in social media posts. The singing sun, the hero icon, was used when communicating about the whole program.

Dominick Argento Promotional Materials

Boosey and Hawkes asked me to design some promotional materials around the 100th birthday of opera and choral composer Dominick Argento. Over the course of his career, Argento was known for the range of his work, eclectic in their influence and setting, often drawing inspiration from literature and history. To illustrate that eclecticism, I used a mosaic design with photos drawn from his operas as well as art history and historical prints. Since these materials would be seen by an audience already very familiar with Argento’s works, I wanted to present them in a fresh and exciting design.

This is the 8.5”x11” ad that was printed in a booklet for a conference for university and college music directors, an audience that was very familiar with Dominick Argento and his work.

Messiah

I designed a set of assets to advertise a performance of Handel’s Messiah at the First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York. For the title, I wanted to use a display font that was influenced by the 18th century, paired with an 18th century British painting (the musical director requested a shepherd scene) large enough to print at size, which also met my last requirement: drama!
Designed assets included a print 30”40” poster, as well as a print ad, and digital assets for social media.

Tianjin Juilliard Atrium Cards

These are promotional printed pieces for the Tianjin Juilliard School, located in Tianjin China. Four cards highlight a different Graduate Studies program each, while the blue card advertises the faculty members. I made use of Juilliard extended brand palette to make each card distinct, while the geometric design ties them together.

Tianjin Juilliard Viewbook

I designed this printed booklet for the Graduate Studies program at Tianjin Juilliard. The book is a large size, hopefully making it stand out from other schools’ promotional materials. That large size, and a light design touch, allow the beautiful photography to take center stage.

Environmental Design

I designed some murals for a client’s tasting event. The goal was to enliven a very corporate, institutional space using images of delicious food and tasty beverages. The murals were printed on vinyl and applied to walls approximately 6.5” high, and various widths, for an event at IFF’s Dubai office highlighting the company’s work on innovative food products.

Girl Scout Identities

In 2020 and early 2021, I created identities for two separate STEM-related projects for the Girl Scouts. They were for slightly different age groups, but had to align under the Girl Scouts brand, and had to be developed across different applications: into themes for print pieces and powerpoint presentations, as well as shareable social media cards.

During the winter of 2020/21, Girl Scouts created a series of STEM workshops for girls and their families. The activities were educational, but also were meant to give girls and their families something fun to do together, when so many couldn’t gather in their troops as they normally would. These activities were meant for younger girls, and focussed on engineering activities like building a bridge across a canyon and making a water collection device. I used the idea of children’s building blocks to speak to a younger audience. The building blocks could then be expanded as a theme throughout other assets that were required for the program.

All of the program materials were also available in Spanish, down to the identity.

I created these social media graphics to share on Instagram via post and stories, on Twitter, and Facebook. This is an example of how I expanded the block motif into other formats.

The Girl Scout STEM Festival was also created during the pandemic to help older girls (mostly middle and high school age) learn about careers in STEM. They wanted to create a feeling of surprise and wonder with the identity.

This shows how the colorful burst surrounding the trefoil in the identity could be enlarged to become a design element that brings exuberance and color to the whole page.

Juilliard Journal 2017–2020

The Juilliard Journal serves as both newspaper and alumni publication for the Juilliard community. The older incarnation of the Journal had a large physical format (11”x12.5”), which made it a great place to take some chances and make some bold design moves.

IFF Vanilla Recipe Book

I redesigned this recipe book for International Flavors & Fragrances to conform with their new brand guidelines. The old book was very cute, but looked a little dated: pastel colors and swoopy, cutesy fonts. The new guidelines called for a more modern, sophisticated approach.

Girls Scouts Archery Badge Booklet and Infographics

The badge booklets familiarize Girl Scouts with the basics they need to earn a particular badge. Since this booklet is aimed at girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, the design had to be friendly, young, and fun, utilizing pattern, illustration, and photos to make the information as engaging as possible.
